Total Truth Thursday: All Things Domestic

I think it's about time for me to join in on Total Truth Thursday. SO without further ado I will be talking about All Things Domestic. What?!  I sure chose an interesting week to join in since I pretty much see myself as far from domestic as can be (considering I spend more time working as a graduate student then I do at my home). However, then I got to thinking about how much cleaning, cooking, and decorating I do, and I thought: hey, maybe this whole upcoming marriage thing is making you more domestic. BUT, then I thought: wait, I have been doing most of these things ever since I moved out. That's a pointless rant that isn't particularly relevant to what I wanted to say- but you know how that goes.

SO, DOMESTICATION. I have truly grown to love the idea. Seriously. I never liked the idea of being that "stay at home mom." Maybe because I was raised with a single mom who always worked her butt off. But, since I met M, my perspective has totally changed. I always thought I would be a working mom (which I still want to be), but now the importance of being around to see my children grow up is really sinking in for me. Therefore, being more domestic is becoming a less daunting idea and looking more and more like God's greatest blessing each day.

Although I still want to be a career woman as I love what I do, I also want to have a few little ones and be there for them as they grow up.

  1. Girl, I feel you! I used to feel the same way, that "being domestic" was about as anti-female-enlightenment as I could get. But I definitely have a new perspective on it all, especially as a mom now. It's my contribution to my family, not necessarily something that makes what I do less important, etc. Staying home with Noah and our future little ones is the best decision I've ever made. Thanks so much for linking up! So happy to have you!

  2. Amen!! You said it perfectly, "Therefore, being more domestic is becoming a less daunting idea and looking more and more like God's greatest blessing each day.", that is exactly how I feel ever since I said I Do!! So happy you joined in this week!

  3. Loved reading your perspective, I hope and pray to be able to be a stay at home mom one day to watch my babies grow, but also want to have an outlet where I feel I have worth and independence as well. Love what you said about domestication being God's greatest blessing each day. Sweet words, friend. Xx.
