Don't Try so Hard

Today I am linking up with The "Florkens," Jade and Oak, & Treasure Tromp. This fun little link-up was created in honor of Colbie Caillat's new music video. This video is AMAZING, so if you haven't seen it, I suggest you watch it before reading any more of this post. It sends such a powerful message and really sets the stage for this link-up (you can read more of the back story behind it HERE).

I have never been one of those girls that cannot leave the house without makeup. Sure I have my insecure moments, but I have never felt a huge need to try hard when it comes to my looks (not because I thought I was beautiful but because I honestly didn't care what people thought about my looks). I feel pretty confident in my own skin, mostly because I have no desire to "conceal" who I am whether it is through makeup, or clothing, etc., and I wish the same for other women. It is such a liberating feeling. HOWEVER, I have a really hard time having my photos taken so capturing these was a challenge (for my husband too).

Even though I am comfortable in my own skin, I am totally guilty of negative self talk, just like most other women. I do, however, love my teeth and my tattoos (I know these weren't always a part of me but they definitely are now).  What do you love about yourself?

  2. I wish this was in color so that I could see your eyes girl! They look so pretty here that I bet they are even prettier in color! I know this sounds weird, but I love your chin! HA! I do! It is a perfect chin... very strong. I do a lot of negative self-talk about my own chin -- that needs to stop! Yours is pretty awesome though!

Thank you so much for linking up!

  8. I'm just like you Sweetie, even though I'm comfortable in my own skin I catch myself of negative self talk and even at times being self conscious, but I figure as long as I like me then it's all good. You have nothing to be ashamed of, you're beautiful!

What a special post! You're beautiful! I love makeup, it's a passion to me and it's like an art. But it's just a fun thing I enjoy, I enjoy a clean fresh face more than anything :) I've definitely become more comfortable in my natural skin over the last couple years!

  13. Thanks girl! I definitely enjoy makeup as well I just have never been one of those girls that feels that I must have it on all the time. Plus I am not very good at it! hahaha it's such a freeing feeling to just be happy without the makeup though :)

  23. You are gorgeous friend. I wish there was a negative self talk switch we could all shut off. We are all so beautiful but we talk ourselves down constantly. I wish I cared less like you. You should be confident in your skin you have every reason to be!

  30. Great pictures! I'm one of those, have to leave the house with makeup girls. Always have been. I come from a family of people who are very judgmental when it comes to looks and it's been so hard to deal with that, and the older I get the more comfortable I feel with myself. I know a lot of it has to do with my sweet husband.

  31. So glad you have found a man that makes you feel beautiful no matter what- because you are! :)

Cassie, I love your face shape and your neck/shoulders. Very pretty and feminine. I hope #nomakeup selfies become a real trend to balance out the unrealistic expectations the media has created.

Thank you for being a part of this link-up, you're so brave =)

    I've joined in too!
