Stitch Fix #1

On Wednesday I received my first Stitch Fix! For those of you that are unfamiliar with Stitch Fix, you can read more about it here. I love Stitch Fix because I HATE shopping in stores, but I love clothes. Stitch Fix allows me to try on clothing, hand picked for me, in the comfort of my own home. This way, I don't have any of those moments where the clothes look great in the store, but then I get home and have nothing to pair them with!

M and I have started doing monthly "allowances" which allows me to save for my fix (sounds like a bad drug habit). I also sell back clothing to ThredUp to get cash back. Stitch Fix's clothing isn't cheap- but it is high quality. Something I am striving for with my closet is quality over quantity. I only want clothing that I look and feel good in, and that will last. I especially like it because I feel like my old clothing doesn't fit my new lifestyle of graduate student and wife. Stitch Fix gives me the opportunity to get some new pieces into my closet!

I also love their referral program. Each time someone uses your referral link (here is mine) to order their first Stitch, you get a $25 credit. How awesome is that?! I would love for you to use my referral link, but do not feel obligated.

When signing up for my first fix, I made sure to link to my pinterest board and leave specific comments about what I was looking for. I was a little bit worried because some women I had talked to said their first fix really missed the mark, so I went overboard on information about what I do and do not like. Since I knew my fix would be arriving shortly before we left for our honeymoon (WE LEAVE TOMORROW!!!), I asked for clothing that would work well for Costa Rica. Let me tell you, my stylist Megan did a STELLAR job and really listened to what I asked for. I loved everything and seriously wanted to keep it all (if only my graduate school budget would allow that). Here is what I received:

 1. Josie Cut-Out Embroidery Detail Cotton Tank (Ellison)
2. Cece Abstract Ikat Print Soft Pant (Bobi Black)

 3. Caralita Mixed Print Soft Short (Honey Punch)

 4. Colibri Floral Print Sleeveless Top (Market and Spruce)

 5. Rue Geometric Print Maxi Dress (Skies are Blue)

My thoughts on each piece:

1. Ellison Tank: I ADORED THIS PIECE. Seriously, I am picky about tanks, and this just fit so perfectly and even came with an undershirt to wear with it. Obsessed. KEPT.
2. Print Pant: Seriously, how well did these go with the tank?! It was a match made in heaven and these pants just screamed Costa Rica beaching. I fell in love. KEPT.
3. Honey Punch Short: I liked the print of these shorts, but they were a little short for my taste. Not to mention that I have a rather round rear end, making them super tight on me. They were also a little tight around my hips. Sent back.
4. Floral Top: M and I really loved this top. If I didn't love the first two pieces so much, or if I had a bigger budget, I likely would have kept this top. It was definitely my style. Sent back.
5. Maxi Dress:  When I first saw this in the box my first thought was, this definitely isn't my style. However, once I got it on, I LOVED it. It has a hidden slit (which doesn't look hidden in that first scandalous photo up here), which added a little flare. And how perfect was it with that big hat I own?! Right! Again, if I didn't love the first two pieces so much, I would have also kept this. Sent back.

The breakdown:

The entire fix would have been $211.50 (with the $20 styling credit applied and the 25% discount for purchasing all items). However, since that wasn't exactly in my budget, the two items I chose were around $112 after the $20 styling credit was applied. This is more than I am used to spending, but I also know this isn't Target quality clothing so I am OK with that. I can't wait to wear these new items on my honeymoon!

Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?!
