That's right, I am STILL on my honeymoon so I have another awesome guest post for you today. Kayla is a total sweetheart and I have been following along with her blog for quite some time now. I know you will enjoy what she has to share with you! And don't forget to check out the giveaway I have going on!
Hi guys! I'm Kayla and I blog over at My Kind of Yellow! I know, I know, I'm not Cassie...but I promise, I'm not so bad! I blog about a ton of stuff; our newlywed adventures, photography, frugal living, running, and my favorite...food.
She pretty much gave me the go-ahead to post whatever I feel like, so today I'm going to be talking about a few of the biggest surprises that I realized once I got married.
Cooking didn't come easy. I blogged about that a LOT in our first year of marriage. I guess I thought once our marriage license was signed, loads of amazing, gourmet cooking skills would be seeping from my fingertips...oh, how wrong I was. We pretty much spent the first year making pancakes, cereal, and the occasional oven-baked chicken for dinner. I know, my husband is so lucky to have me.
Sometimes, you'll accidentally share a toothbrush. When I realized (the first, and only time) that I was brushing my teeth with my husbands toothbrush, I nearly got sick...annnnd that's when I discovered my love of color-coded toothbrush caps.
Your kitchen won't clean itself. Unfortunately, after you actually do make a meal your husband enjoys... someone's still gotta clean it up... and sometimes, your whole apartment will look like a pack of wolves ran through it and tore everything up, and that's alright. You just go to sleep, and tackle it all the next day ;)
Decorating the place won't come easy. & yeah, maybe our apartment is still pretty bare, and looks like a college dorm room, but hey - we love it. I, for one, will NOT pay Anthropologie prices for a cute wall hook, that's where Hobby Lobby comes in! #
...although some of these things are a real bummer, having a permanent sleepover pal for the rest of your life, makes it all worth it!
I really hope you'll stop by my blog (with your sweet tea in hand) and stay for a while! If you want to follow along on all my random adventures, follow me on instagram or twitter! Hope to chat soon!
Yesterday was Meg's (from Rivers and Roads) 26th birthday, so myself and some other amazing ladies are teaming up with her for a FABULOUS giveaway (that I want to win for myself!).
We are giving away three of Meg's absolute favorite things to one lucky winner! From the mouth of Meg, this is why she chose each of these special items:
1 | A large Vera Bradley duffel bag. "I was given this bag two years ago for my birthday and have used it for most of my trips since then! It is the perfect bag for a long weekend getaway to the mountains, the beach, or to your bestie's. It is incredibly spacious and the shoulder straps make it easy to carry. I LOVE it." *Color of your choice
2 | A pair of Chacos. "If you have ever read my blog, you know how much I love my Chacos! I've had one pair since I was fourteen, and they are starting to fall apart but have been my favorite pair of shoes for the past twelve years. They are the best and great for hiking and the every day. I wear mine everywhere and with just about anything." *Color of your choice
3 | "And because I love ya, I'm throwing in a $15 gift card to Starbucks so you can go and enjoy your favorite drink! Maybe take a friend for a fun coffee date! :)"
