I'm infinitely thankful for the excitement surrounding #morethanaframe. I could not have expected a better turn out. You ladies are AWESOME! Each Friday, starting today, I will be choosing ten of my favorite photos (and favorite captions) from the week and featuring them on this little space.
This week's prompt is JOY. I'm so happy we kicked this project off with this prompt. It was so fun to see everyone's hearts beyond their images and really dive in to what joy embodies for each of us. I had such a hard time choosing the photos to feature today.
This city brings so much JOY into my life. The history, the people, the quirky holes in the wall, the traditions, the accents, the culture. #baltimore is home to me but it's more than that. The JOY I feel when I'm in this city makes my heart want to burst. I don't know why I love Bmore so much but I do know that when I was praying where to go next while going to school in Delaware, "Baltimore" was my answer. I'm called here. THIS is my place. THIS is my home. Despite other's comments that Baltimore is dirty, dangerous, ghetto, etc. I do not care because THIS is the place that brings me JOY. This morning, people are hurting, people are angry, people are tired. Stores are looted, police cars destroyed, property busted up, windows broken. This city is literally in shambles this morning due to riots and violence. My heart is heavy and broken but still I have JOY in remembering that God is able to do IMMEASURABLY MORE than I could ever imagine. He will restore our home. He will make all things right. #morethanaframe
For this week's #morethanaframe we're talking about JOY. What makes me feel joyful? Knowing that my God has a plan for my life, and I don't need to strive for the outcomes. I don't have to strive to achieve things and make a difference, I get to press into Him instead. I get to follow as He leads me to the things He's set aside for AMY to achieve. I get to watch as He develops passions in this heart of mine, and provides opportunities for me to live those out. All to bring glory to His name! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• One of those passions that brings me such joy is speaking & teaching, and tonight God has brought yet another opportunity for me to do so 🙌🏼 (He is so good, ya'll). I would LOVE your prayers that God would come & meet with us @realitysb women tonight. ❤️
Talking about JOY this week with #morethanaframe 💜 Joy is so much more than happiness. It can only be found in Jesus....hence the name of my blog...A Deeper Joy. Can I be real here? It's been hard for me to find joy lately. With so much junk going on and not getting pregnant after trying for what feels like forever (though I know it's not), it's hard for me to remember that Jesus' love is all I need to be joyful, not for circumstances to be "good" according to what my flesh desires. My prayer today is that my heart would be full of true JOY. 💜 P.S. You can buy this beautiful print from #steadysouldesigns on Etsy! I just love it!
I don't mind doing laundry, but I do mind hanging it. Jason's out fishing (his other love of his life) and I'm here trying to rush through breakfast and bible study and getting ready for church so I can write... And then from under a pile of clean clothes, Scary Close peeks and I remember what it says about making relationships key, instead of it being all about me. So I hang and I celebrate the man who dirties these clothes (as begrudging as my fleshy heart longs to be). || Join the #morethanaframe community this week as we celebrate the unexpected joy that arrives in the mess of life. This is the first time I've posted a baby picture on Instagram. I've been terrified of pregnancy/babies for as long as I can remember, which is why the good Lord saw fit to give me a job as a receptionist at a Birth Center 😂 I've slowly learned that I won't break them, they do like me, and their moms aren't insane for having them. Today, one of our nurses brought her 3-month old son in, and he was being fussy and she had to draw blood on a half-dozen patients. So I took the leap and asked if I could wear him. Which probably seems like NOT A BIG DEAL to a lot of you, but it was totally a big deal for me. Then he fell asleep in the sling and his little baby snuggles and snuffles made me just a little less scared of having my own kids someday. And that brings me JOY...which is, incidentally, the insta-promt this week for #morethanaframe, a hashtag started by my friend @thatsageblog and @mrthomasandme. It's all about putting more honesty and good stuff on the Internet. Join in and show us your joy, friends!!
So appropriate that this weeks #morethanaframe is #joy ! Today I'm joyful to be returning to work for the first time in almost 2 months. Returning means I'm healthy again, that my #endolymphaticsacdecompression surgery was successful which means hopefully no more #vertigo for me. Plus how can I not be full of joy with the beautiful blossoms on the trees outside my window! #livingwithmenieres #menieres #menieresdisease #md #sweetcatastropheblog #joy #joyful #thankful #healthy
And in case you missed mine:
Joy is almost one year of being married to this man. Joy is a funny concept because we often tie it to happiness. To me, happiness is temporary. True joy goes beyond situational happiness. Joy is something only found in Jesus, and for that I am grateful because even when my marriage isn't full of happiness, it always brings me joy as I know it's God's work, his fine craftsmanship. We are two broken people but because of God, I know our marriage will always be joyful even of it's not always happy. WHERE DO YOU FIND JOY? #joy #morethanaframe #allthefacialexpressions
As we end the first week, I encourage you to continue to dialogue with one another. It's so cool to see the conversations and friendships that have already started. I know instagram has been feeling a lot more fruitful for me this week!
Haven't joined in the fun yet? There's still time! Be sure to keep you eyes peeled for next week's prompt!
